Dr. Marina Rodríguez Calvo de Mora

About me

I studied at the University of Malaga and did my residency at the HRU Regional of Malaga (formerly Carlos Haya), where I continue to practice. I specialized in Corneal and Ocular Surface Surgery, completing a fellowship at the prestigious clinic of Dr. Melles in Rotterdam (Netherlands Institute for Innovative Ocular Surgery), where I later worked as a consultant.

As a surgeon specialized in endothelial keratoplasty, I am closely linked to the Andalusian Transplant Commission. Training in the best Eye Banks in Europe, Veneto (FBOV, https://www.fbov.org/) and Rotterdam (Amnitrans, https://www.niios.com/amnitrans-eyebank-rotterdam/), I contributed to establishing and organizing the Eye Bank of Eastern Andalusia, of which I am Coordinator. In which we not only analyze and culture the corneo-scleral tissue, but also perform the fractionation of DMEK, DSAEK and UT-DSAEK cornal lamellae on demand.

I have always been interested in research and dissemination with an international vocation. I completed my European Doctoral Thesis (Doctor Europeus) on blood products treatments in dry eye, obtaining a Cum Laude grade. Likewise, I have been principal investigator in four clinical trials and have designed and collaborated in two others. I have received awards for my presentations at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology, and the Andalusian Society of Ophthalmology (in three consecutive years). I am editor of the American Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports and Ophthalmology and Therapy and reviewer of the journals: American Journal of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, Archivos de la Sociedad Española de Oftalmología and Journal Français d’Ophtalmologie
